I don’t know what to call this mess I made, but it was tasty so I’m sharing the “recipe.”

What I had in the freezer and fridge: 2 chicken breasts, frozen chopped spinach, Neufchatel Cheese, leftover white rice, 14.5 oz can of diced tomatoes.

First I cut up the chicken and tossed it in a pan with a couple tablespoons of water. I sprinkled in some garlic powder, salt, and pepper.

I cooked the chicken until I could break the pieces up even smaller. Then I lowered the heat to medium-low as I added other things.

Next I added 3 ounces of Neufchatel Cheese. It’s a kind of cream cheese that’s supposed to have 1/3 the fat. (I was going to use it in my pumpkin cheesecake, but used regular cream cheese instead.)

Here’s a picture of the frozen chopped spinach and the Neufchatel Cheese.

I added about 1 cup of spinach to the mix.

I stirred everything together and added chili powder and onion flakes for taste.

I drained a can of tomatoes and added it to the chicken mixture.

I mixed everything together and it smelled really good. There looked like there might be too much liquid. So I took a look through the fridge for something to add…

There was some leftover white rice from yesterday. I put about 1-1/2 to 2 cups in a bowl, splashed it with a little water, and microwaved it for 2 minutes to heat it up.

I added the rice to the chicken mixture…

…and stirred everything together. It’s completely cooked at this point and you could eat it like this.

Seriously, it was very tasty. A few squirts of lime juice and some cilantro would have made this a meal on its own.

Instead I wrapped the chicken mixture in … Read the rest “FOOD: Chicken, spinach and rice in a tortilla”

CHAPTER THREE

“What?” Tony asked dumbly.

Powergirl’s eyes were like gimlets. “For some reason Solar decided she wanted to switch to Teen Demis West Coast. Pulsar, of course, is going along with her. For some reason I feel like we’re losing two of our members because of something *you* did.”

“I have no idea what you’re talking about,” Tony said. He imagined he could feel a trail of sweat working its way down the side of his neck. He was definitely the focus of her evil eye and he figured at any moment Powergirl would start sucking the meat from his bones. It was a daunting prospect.

If there was something she’d definitely fly off the handle about, it was the idea of someone screwing up the team dynamic. She took her role as team leader *very* seriously.

Tony had a feeling that when the whole story came out he was going to get his ass kicked. He figured he should enjoy the anonymity as long as it lasted. He would be hating life soon enough.

“So, they’re both leaving the group?” he asked. “Won’t that leave us short handed?”

Powergirl gave a sudden, tired shrug. “The only good thing is that this is happening in the off season. We’ll be able to start recruiting some new members and get some people trained up before the season starts.” She reached forward to grab the bowl of chips Tony had left on the table. She slouched on the couch and cradled the bowl in her arms as she began to snack.

It was a rather incongruous picture she presented: young demigod in her uniform of leather skirt and chest armor. … Read the rest “Tuesday Night – Chapter Three [Kanon, superhero, Sunfire/Teen Steel, mm]”

CHAPTER TWO

Things had gotten awkward and Tony didn’t know what to do about it. He’d screwed things up and no amount of apologizing was going to make things right again.

Every time Solar looked at him, he couldn’t help cringing a little. She’d never been his favorite member of the Teen Demis, but she was one of his teammates. He’d known better than to mess around with her, and now things were coming around to bite him on the ass.

He could already tell things were about to blow up. Especially considering the poisonous looks Pulsar kept sending him.

Tony didn’t think Solar had said anything to her brother, but Pulsar had a sixth sense about her. And he wasn’t the kind of guy to let anything go. So it was kind of a given that there was going to be a giant clash of the “one night stand” and “wrathful brother” variety. There was no avoiding it. He was destined to be guy that messed things up.

Tony found himself spending a lot of time with Sunfire, hanging around and playing video games. It gave him the chance to regain his equilibrium. Ashley was still dead and there was still a gaping emptiness inside where she used to be, but he was starting to think that maybe he would be okay. His life would be able to go on.

He had to keep living through each day as it happened. There was nothing else he could do. At some point all the awkwardness would either come bubbling to a head or dissipate. He couldn’t help hoping that it would all slip away. He could live a life … Read the rest “Tuesday Night – Chapter Two [Kanon, superhero, Sunfire/Teen Steel, mm]”

Would anyone like to purchase early-access to “Prompts & Ponderings” for $10? It’s currently an on-going project, but you will receive an ebook of everything when the series is complete (I have Calibre, so I can make different formats, though I’m far from an expert with the program). If you have a preferred store that you buy from — Amazon, Smashwords, Lt3, All Romance Ebooks — you can wait until the Perfect Collection comes out, though I don’t have a date on when that will be.

Use this link — PayPal.Me/HarperKingsley/10 — to send me $10 via Paypal and I will email you a page link and a keypass. (Basically, I’m going to make a simple page with a catlist of all the published Prompt posts as links. Then there will be new stuff through that page and it’s children.) Once the series is complete, an ebook will be available for download.

There is a space on the Paypal order form for “Special instructions to seller”. Please make sure to let me know what you’re ordering. The nice thing about Paypal.me/HarperKingsley is that I can be sent money from anyone with a Paypal account and my name. But because of that freedom I don’t automatically know what someone’s purchasing. (You could just be buying me a cup of coffee on a cold day, or hanging out with some quilting materials. Sometimes you don’t tell me what the money’s for, all you say is “Here, take my money!” and that always makes me laugh. And then you get sizzling chicken videos

and no explanation.)
